February 4, 2024 @ 9:30 am - 10:00 pm
On February 4, from 9:30 to 10:10 be at the Joseph Priestley Chapel to learn how Priestley and eight other Lunatics fueled the fires that would ignite the Industrial Revolution in 1780-1790. The Lunar Society (Lunatics) was a group of men who met monthly on the Monday closest to the Full Moon. As Maureen McNeil says, “These men of science and industry were drawn together by their interest in natural philosophy, technological and industrial development and social change appropriate to these concerns. They developed concepts and techniques in science, agriculture, manufacturing, mining and transport.” You’ll also hear four selections of music that Priestley may have heard.
