Our Purpose:

Serve as the life-giving element for the Joseph Priestley House and the life of Joseph Priestley.

Our Mission:

The Friends of Joseph Priestley House (FJPH) preserves the cultural resources of the Joseph Priestley House and Joseph Priestley’s contributions creating a dynamic setting for the education and enjoyment of all members of the community. The FJPH exists to support the mission and operations of the Joseph Priestley House, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC).

About FJPH:

Friends of Joseph Priestley House is a dynamic historic museum that serves as a positive force in the community at large. We work to protect, preserve, restore and promote the historic Joseph Priestley House and the legacy of Joseph Priestley. FJPH operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is an affiliate of the Pennsylvania Historical Museum Commission.

Our Vision:

  • Essential educational programming that inspires current and future generations
  • Contemporary key to the heritage and economic prosperity of Northumberland and surrounding areas
  • Welcoming focal point for the preservation and legacy of Joseph Priestley (Scientist, Educator, Theologian)

Our Values:

The mission and vision statements are complemented with organizational values that were created with input from all members of the Board and reflect best practices for publicly funded 501(c)(3) organizations.
