SUMMARY:Oxygen Day in the Garden: Special 250th Anniversary Celebration!
DESCRIPTION:This is a FREE event\, and Kid-centered outdoor activities will begin at 11:30am with light refreshments.\n\nOn Sunday the museum will host its annual Oxygen Day Garden Party. The museum will open for tours beginning at 1 pm\, with special indoor music in the front room (across from the library) provided by Fred Hooper\, piano and Broderick Lesher\, violin from 1:30-3:30 pm. On the grounds\, visitors can interact with a Brewmeister\, who demonstrates the brewing of beer as it would have been done during Priestley’s time\, and listen to the music of fiddler Beverley Conrad. At 1:30 pm and again at 3:30 pm in the Pond Building\, Dr. Priestley\, portrayed by Ron Blatchley\, will demonstrate science experiments using equipment common during Priestley’s lifetime. A tribute to the American Chemical Society and special recognition of Rory Arne Olofson\, Phd retired professor of Chemistry\, Penn State University. There is no charge for Sunday’s events\, although anyone wishing to attend the science demonstrations must get tickets in the Visitors Center\, because seating is limited.

DESCRIPTION:August 1\, 2024 marks the 250th Anniversary of Dr. Priestley’s discovery of oxygen\, and in honor of that auspicious event\, the Joseph Priestley House Museum is hosting a celebration!\n\n\nUnder the tent set up for the occasion\, guests will be able to enjoy food catered by Laurie Bucard of Townside Catering\, to purchase Priestley Pilsner from Pineknotter Brewery or wine from Whispering Oak\, to enjoy\, and\, if one so desires\, dance to music performed by Elegance Quartet (https://www.elegancequartet.com). The house will be open for guests to visit the newly renovated second floor Rotating Display Area\, which during the Gala Weekend Celebration\, will feature an art display by guest artist Hope Buzzelli.
